WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!! We are back from our trip to Tioman!! We actually made it there!!!!! YESYESYESYESYES!!!!!

Left Goldenmile Complex at 6.45am (mistook andee's mum for his sis) and set off to Malaysia at a decent pace. Malaysia didn't seem to have changed much since I last went there abt 5years ago... I think Yee Yen wasn't to pleased with my "Wow Malaysia has a Carrefour!" and "Look! A KFC!!" comments... ;) haha! Prob coz i tend to travel to the cheaper and ulu-er places there :P

The first day wasn't all that great. 1) Bus was late. 2) Missed 12pm ferry to Tioman (as we had arrived an hour late). 3) Was presented with an extremely rocky beach upon arrival 4 hrs late. 4) The beach resort itself was a humongous disappointment and seemed simply chalets built haphazardly around a central dining area. The so-called 'village' turned out to consist of a mere 8 or 9 shops/restaurants which exist in support of the 'resort'. 5) The standard chalet which we were escorted to was rather small for 3 ppl and the toilet door won't lock. 6) Ended up upgrading to a superior chalet for an additional 60RM per person. 7) The service was terrible. 8) They ran out of towels so I had to buy my own from the village.

All in all, it wasn't exactly what we had expected, judging from the pictures and descriptions of the place.. The three of us (Andee, Yee Yen & myself) decided that the photographer was a really good one and that pictures can truly be deceiving! :P

Since we arrived so late that first day, there wasn't much we could do besides walking along the beach. That was pretty interesting actually! The beach extends in a gradual incline quite a way out, meaning the undertow is not very strong. So we were able to clamber all over the rocks a fair distance away from the actual sandy beach and amused ourselves by spotting marine life in the pools of shallow water between the rocks.
